BASC discusses how it can support and promote the implementation of the new Minimum Security Criteria of the C-TPAT program of US Customs.

On the occasion of the invitation of the United States Customs (CBP) to World BASC Organization, Fermín Cuza, International President, participated in a special way and as a guest panelist at the Annual Conference of C-TPAT 2018 (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism ) in days gone by in Orlando, Florida.

The conference, focused its efforts on a cooperation strategy, from the highest levels of security of the United States Department of Customs and Border Protection, to help the sectors involved in the supply chain and this is how it gathered more of 1,200 members of the C-TPAT program in the US, Canada and Mexico.

In this sense, Mr. Cuza participated in the discussion panel on the new provisions derived from the update of the Minimum Security Criteria C-TPAT (US Customs standards) guiding the process of implementing a globally safe supply chain, in relation to the role of BASC in the integration and promotion of the new criteria, through a network of more than 3,000 certified companies in the Americas and presence in the World Customs Organization (WCO) as a member of the Consultative Group of the Private Sector.

In this meeting the BASC delegation was made up of Mr. Álvaro Alpízar, President of the Board of Directors of WBO, Luis Bernardo Benjumea, Executive Director of BASC Colombia, Liliana Olague, Executive Director of BASC USA and Wilson Cristancho, International Auditor of BASC USES.

"The approach and collaboration between CBP and WBO, since its inception and ratified several years ago with the signing of the Joint Declaration in 2012, demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to the business community and the security of the global supply chain and speaks of the maturation, facilitation and competitiveness of the C-TPAT and BASC programs in their twenty years of training." expressed Mr. Fermín Cuza.
